By participating in Luxx Dance Competition, you agree to abide by these rules and policies. Failure to do so may result in disqualification or other consequences, as outlined in our competition guidelines.
By registering for and participating in Luxx Dance, you acknowledge and agree that Luxx reserves the right to use photographs and media captured during classes, events, and performances for promotional, marketing, and other lawful purposes. All rights to such photography are reserved by Luxx.
REGISTRATION FEES:
Registration application with full payment must be received on or before the Deadline date.
*Once Registration is processed no refunds will be issued.
AGE DIVISIONS:
Dancers are enter as the age they will be on the date of competition determined by the birthdate submitted and calculated by computer software to insure accuracy. Age categories may be divided or combined as needed.
**Division level information is provided as a guideline to assist with proper placement. If the judges determine a routine has been entered in the incorrect division, it may be moved accordingly. Placement decisions are based on the overall routine, including execution, choreography, performance quality, and technical ability. Division levels are not determined by a few isolated skills or tumbling tricks, as acrobatic elements are considered bonus skills rather than the primary basis for adjudication.**
DIVISION LEVELS:
NOVICE:
This division is for first time competitive dancers. Only a single pirouette is permitted, and leaps or other skills should reflect the early stages of development in a dancer with beginner-level technique (1-2 years of training).
BEGINNING:
Beginning division is for the beginning dancer with basic dance skills. For the majority of dancer(s) who can execute a single pirouette, toe touch, grande' jete leap, cartwheels and back walkover skills or others similar. These dancers can be attempting and developing more challenging technique and turns sequences but not executed perfectly from majority of dancers. They are developing technique & flexibility. Attempting more challenging dance skills in intermediate level.
INTERMEDIATE:
Intermediate division is for dancers who can execute a double pirouette, toe touch sequence, side leap, switch leap, back leap, turns in 2nd position. challenging technique and turns sequences but not executed perfectly from majority of dancers. Attempting more challenging dance skills in advanced level.
INTERMEDIATE PLUS:
Dancers in this category should be able to perform solid triple pirouettes. Multi-directional fouettés and a la seconde turns are permitted. These dancers are skilled but not yet at the advanced level.
ADVANCED:
The Advanced Division is for dancers who can execute a triple/quad pirouette, tilt jump, fouettes, multiple turn sequences, advanced technique strength skills. Very challenging dance movements/skills executed with excellent technique, flexibility, and proficient artistic expression.
SHOES AND PROPS:
JUDGING
The judging panel will consist of 3 or more qualified, experienced judging authorities. Each routine will be evaluated by 3 of the judges for technical ability, choreography, execution, and showmanship. Judge’s decisions are final.
Dancer's who fail to "show up" at a competition forfeit any refund or credit.
Luxx Dance reserves the right to group contestants of close ages from differing age categories in order to provide a competitive experience as needed. Example: (9 yr old) to compete against (10 yr old) when there is no other equitable competition for the 2 contestants in their respective age/skill/genre categories, resulting in no more than one year age difference between the two.
Luxx Dance reserves the right to combine genres of similar qualities to provide a competitive experience, ie: Jazz/Character, Lyrical/Ballet.
Scheduling efforts are made to separate studio classmates when registration numbers allow so.
